| Brooks Avenue Laboratories is located in Pasadena, CA, 2.4 miles south of Jet Propulsion Laboratory and 4.5 miles west of the California Institute of Technology. | ||||
| Brooks Avenue Laboratories was founded in December 2007. The foundation of Brooks Avenue Laboratories was strongly influenced by a demonstration from Dr. Edward C. Stone, project scientist for the Voyage spacecraft missions. In late 2007 in San Marino, CA, Dr. Stone projected a computer generated video representing our undulating heliosphere. He augmented his demonstration with a video of his kitchen sink, used to represent the termination shock point in the heliosphere. (Voyager 1 entered the termination shock region in 2007.) It is in the space between the computer animation and the kitchen sink video that Brooks Avenue Laboratories situates itself in an attempt to understand the relationship between demonstration and idea. | ||||
